COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.” – John 15:13

SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE: BUILD DAY

The Sleep in Heavenly Peace: Build Day was a massive success! Flex-Erect was so happy to host this fantastic organization’s volunteer event to build beds for local children in need of a place to sleep and keep volunteers out of the hot sun in our workshop. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a nationwide organization that strives to build beds for every child without one. Over 150 beds were built during the event and 100 were built in 3 hours, a new record for a bed build event for the Houston Central West chapter! Each bed will be delivered with bedding, pillows, and stuffed animals. Thank you to SHP for spearheading this incredible mission, Nancy Cagle with Eyesight Surveillance for lunch and snacks, and Christensen Building Group and Compliance Safety Consulting for sponsoring the event. No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!

CAMP HOPE

Camp Hope first opened in 2012 as a branch of the PTSD Foundation. The foundation created an intensive residential program to provide a space for victims of trauma and PTSD to heal.

They started Save Camp Hope after the organization announced they were in desperate need of aid to continue operating through the COVID-19 pandemic. Save Camp Hope had a goal to raise $1,000,000 by the close of 2020. We began discussing ways we could help with our team and quickly realized this was an organization we wanted to make a top priority.

Flex-Erect, along with our generous employees and partners, came together to contribute just over $45,000 to Save Camp Hope. Since then, we have continued to provide assistance to Camp Hope in any way we can. We regularly purchase items off their Amazon Wishlist, provide meals, and donate our time to help further the mission of Camp Hope.

PEARLAND FFA

FFA, founded in 1929, is a career and technical organization that equips middle school and high school students with the skills they need to excel in life both inside and outside the agricultural field.

After the child of a team member first started participating in FFA, we quickly realized the good it does for its members. Since then, we’ve bought multiple animals to help provide scholarship money for student handlers.

CROSSPOINT CHURCH

Crosspoint Church is a local Pearland church with multiple programs to combat a number of issues throughout the city. Love Your Neighbor is a program that actively helps to provide aid and resources to unhoused people across the city. Members facilitate a monthly service in Downtown Houston providing worship, a meal, clothing, shoes, and hygiene items. Fostering Hope aims to provide resources for foster parents and children. While we are not all called to be foster parents, we are called to do something to support taking care of and supporting these children.

After hearing about Crosspoint Church’s efforts from a team member, we knew we wanted to assist in furthering the missions of their programs. We have participated in shoe drives for unhoused Houstonians through Love Your Neighbor and pajama and clothing drives through Fostering Hope. Our employees also regularly interact and assist on their own, as this church has also become close to their hearts.

DONORSCHOOSE

DonorsChoose is a non-profit founded in 2000 that allows individuals and companies to donate directly to educational projects and programs.

Through DonorsChoose, we have helped facilitate a number of programs across the nation that directly impact and improve the construction and steel erection industry.

UNITED AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING

After launching in 2007, United Against Human Trafficking (UAHT) has worked on a local, state, and national level to raise awareness and enact laws and policies to put a stop to human trafficking.

Flex-Erect first got involved with UAHT in 2018 after hearing about the organization from a team member. We knew this was an organization we wanted to support to help better the local Houston area.

We have donated over $5,000 and attended numerous events to help further the cause.

HUMBLE ISD

Humble IDS encompasses a total of 44 elementary and secondary schools, spanning over 90 miles across the city of Houston.

Flex-Erect had the opportunity to sponsor the Woodcreek Middle School Annual End-of-Year Picnic. We look forward to sponsoring more events with public school districts throughout Houston to promote quality education within the community.

ACE MENTOR PROGRAM

ACE Mentor Program Houston began in 2008. This program offers after-school mentorship by volunteers from the Architecture, Construction, and Engineering sectors of the industry to interested local high school students. They work in a collaborative environment to develop the next generation of AEC professionals.
